چکیده

Oroxylum indicum (L.) Kurz a well know and pharmaceutically explored medicinal plant of the family Bignoniaceae but in context cytological work, meagre information is available on same plant. During present investigation six accessions O. were studied for understanding male meiosis related events using standard techniques. Although, meiotic course was found to be regular, anomalies such as chromosomal stickiness unequal distribution chromosomes existed trace percentage when compared, meiosis- II more disturbed than meiosis-I. The presence monads, dyads, triads, sporads with micronuclei common, although low frequency. Significantly, spite abnormal tetrad formation, pollens healthy viable. variable values analyzed parameters among different types (morphs) stamens suggested prevalence dimorphism along morphological indicum.

Abnormal male meiosis explains pollen sterility in the polyploid medicinal plant Pinellia ternata (Araceae).

Pinellia ternata is an important traditional Chinese medicinal plant. Its different populations in China have various ploidy levels, based on x = 13, as well as extensive aneuploid series. The microsporogenesis process was observed in specimens from three populations from three regions of Hubei Province; they were characterized by normal and abnormal meiotic divisions in pollen mother cel...

Oroxylum indicum Seeds—Analysis of Flavonoids by Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography

Flavonoids are bioactive constituents in Oroxylum indicum seeds, an Asian traditional remedy used for the treatment of respiratory infections. In this study the first capillary electrophoretic method for their determination is presented. By using a 25 mM borax buffer at pH 9.2 containing 10 mM SDS as detergent, the determination of seven flavonoids was feasible in only 13 min. Method validation...
